Does Human Development in the Womb Reflect the Genesis Creation Account?
I have been reflecting on a possible parallel between the Genesis creation narrative and the stages of human development in the womb. An old anecdote about rebuilding a map by first assembling the image of a person inspired me to explore the idea of humanity as a microcosm of creation. From a creationist perspective, fertilisation, cell division, implantation, the first heartbeat, organ development and fetal growth can be compared with the sequence in Genesis: light, waters, land and seed, sustaining lights, living movement, humanity and rest. The zinc release observed during fertilisation is sometimes described as a flash of light, which I see as an interesting point of reflection alongside “Let there be light.” These comparisons are spiritual and symbolic rather than scientific proof. Embryology describes biological processes, while Genesis speaks to faith and creation. Still, I find the similarities thought-provoking. Do you think the formation of a baby in the womb mirrors the biblical account of creation?
