Fisayo Soyombo Warns Nigerians About the Harsh Reality of the Libya Migration Route

Investigative journalist Fisayo Soyombo has warned Nigerians considering irregular migration through the Sahara to Libya that the journey can lead to exploitation, robbery and dangerous desert conditions. Drawing from a 47-day undercover trip from Kano through Niger Republic to Tripoli, he said many migrants become stranded after running out of money or failing to cross into Europe. Without legal status, they may be unable to access basic services and can become targets for criminals. Soyombo said some undocumented migrants are compelled to work in extreme heat without pay. He urged people considering the route to seek accurate information about its risks before leaving Nigeria.
