When CAC Help Desk Fails: My Struggle to Register a Business
As an entrepreneur, registering your business should be straightforward. Yet my interaction with the Corporate Affairs Commission’s help desk has been anything but smooth. On May 13, I filed to register “Lightread Consulting Concepts.” The system queried my ID, likely because of monocularism, but offered no explanation. I sent my NIN slip, passport photo, payment receipt, and all requested details. After the promised 72 hours, I still have no update. Calling the help desk has been just as frustrating. I spend airtime waiting on hold. In one case, my call was picked up but the line stayed silent despite my attempts to speak. This experience highlights a bigger issue: public institutions should be held to clear response standards if they expect applicants to meet strict deadlines. Delays and poor communication discourage compliance and slow down economic growth. I hope the CAC will improve its customer support so future entrepreneurs aren’t left hanging.
