After Losing ₦2.5 Million to Fraud, I’m Frustrated by the Search for Justice
In 2023, I was defrauded of ₦2.5 million. I reported the matter to the EFCC, but I was allegedly asked to pay ₦1 million before anything could be done. I also approached the police, but I was told it was a debt-collection matter outside their jurisdiction. I then filed a direct criminal complaint in court, and the judge referred the case to the Force Intelligence Department in Abuja for investigation. At the FID, I was allegedly asked to pay ₦300,000 for tracking. When I said I could not afford it, I was asked to leave. I am documenting my experience because I have tried to follow due process, but I feel abandoned and deeply frustrated while trying to recover my money.
