Edwin Encarnación is a retired Dominican professional baseball player known for his power hitting during a 16-season Major League Baseball career. Born on January 7, 1983, in La Romana, he played as a designated hitter, first baseman and third baseman. He made his MLB debut with the Cincinnati Reds in 2005 and later represented the Toronto Blue Jays, Cleveland Indians, Seattle Mariners, New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox. He finished with 424 home runs, 1,261 RBIs and a.260 batting average, earning three All-Star selections. Encarnación was also recognised for his popular “parrot” home-run celebration.
