Arsenal Beat Liverpool 1-0 as Reds Set Unwanted Anfield Shot Record
Arsenal ended their 14-year wait for a Premier League win at Anfield with a disciplined 1-0 victory over Liverpool. Kai Havertz scored the only goal in the 16th minute to send Mikel Arteta’s side top of the table. Liverpool had 17 attempts and 56 per cent possession, but failed to register a single shot on target. It was the first time since Premier League shot records began in 2003-04 that Liverpool had recorded no shots on target in a home league match. Florian Wirtz struck the crossbar and Alexis Mac Allister headed wide, but Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya was not seriously tested. The defeat leaves Liverpool nine points behind the leaders after nine matches.
