Troops Rescue Three Children and Two Women Abducted by Terrorists in Borno
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have freed five abductees, including three children, near Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State. On June 19, 2026 at about 11:40hrs, soldiers from the 82 Division Task Force Battalion on a perimeter clearance patrol in the Bakasi area spotted three children and two women wandering in a bush. They were believed to have escaped from Boko Haram/ISWAP captors. The rescued were identified as Fatima Adamu (80), Maryam Yakubu (55), Abubakar Ibrahim (12), Musa Ibrahim (11) and Fadima Adamu (8). All had been abducted during a terrorist attack on Ngoshe community on March 3, 2026. After receiving first aid from military personnel, the victims were handed over to the community head for reunification with their families. The military noted that while the North-East theatre remains calm, troops stay vigilant in ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
