Brymo Says Chocolate City Split Was Business, Not ‘Beef’
Singer Brymo has clarified that his fallout with former label Chocolate City stemmed from contract issues, not personal animosity. Speaking on Yanga FM, he explained that at 29 he realized he needed financial independence and took control of his career after alleging the label failed to meet certain obligations. Brymo claims he even funded his debut album’s production and, despite the success of Son of a Kapenta, has never received royalties. “They still have the album to this day. I’ve not made anything from it. Nothing,” he said. The dispute led to a court battle as Brymo fought to assert his rights and manage his own music.
