Fayose Links Rural Power Outages to Population Growth

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose says poor electricity supply in rural communities contributes to population growth by leaving residents with few evening activities. Speaking after his inauguration as chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency board in Abuja, Fayose said many rural areas become dark after 7pm, encouraging people to retire early. He argued that reliable electricity would support nightlife, recreation and other economic and social activities, giving residents more options after dark.
