Adeleke Releases ₦500 Million Relief Fund for Osun Election Violence Victims
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has released ₦500 million from the Election Violence Victims Relief Endowment Fund to support residents affected by election-related violence. A committee chaired by the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, will receive petitions and verify claims. Victims must provide relevant evidence before they can qualify for relief. The state government said the fund is intended to assist people who suffered injuries, losses, displacement and other hardships. Representatives of the ministries of Information and Justice, civil society groups, the police and the DSS are members of the committee. More than 70 cases of election-related violence were reportedly recorded in Osun before the poll.
