Abuja: DSS Officer Fires Pistol at FRSC Team During Traffic Stop
The Federal Road Safety Corps reports that a Department of State Services operative opened fire at its personnel during a routine check in Idu, Abuja, on Thursday afternoon. According to the FRSC, officers flagged down a Toyota Carina for a suspected traffic violation around 3:20pm. The driver refused to stop, became verbally aggressive, and resisted inspection. He then drew a pistol and fired two shots near the RS7.118 Unit Command. FRSC marshals responded with restraint, disarmed the assailant and prevented further harm. One marshal received minor bruises. The suspect, his weapon, ammunition and vehicle were handed over to the Nigeria Police at Life Camp. Preliminary identification confirmed he is a DSS operative, and the case has been transferred to the appropriate state command. The Corps Marshal condemned the attack and reminded all security personnel that no one is above the law. He urged respect for traffic regulations and stronger inter-agency cooperation to ensure public safety.
