Customs FOU Zone B Busts Wildlife Traffickers, Seizes Live Pangolins
The Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone B of the Nigeria Customs Service intercepted two live pangolins during a stop-and-search operation along the Kano–Jigawa axis on March 12, 2026. The seizure complied with the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). Each pangolin weighed about 15kg and was safely caged before being moved to the FOU Zone B headquarters in Kaduna. Comptroller Aminu Sule has ordered a full investigation to trace the source and destination of the trafficked animals. He warned that Zone B will not serve as a transit point for wildlife criminals. The Nigeria Customs Service remains vigilant in enforcing environmental laws and protecting the nation’s biodiversity.
