CNN, MSNBC and Politico Prepare Legal Challenge Over White House Press Restrictions

CNN, MSNBC and Politico are reportedly preparing legal action after the Trump administration restricted their access to government facilities. The dispute has renewed debate over whether the White House can deny access to news outlets because of unfavourable coverage. US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz defended the restrictions during a television interview. He argued that the president has the right to limit access when outlets are not acting as good-faith journalists, citing a 1965 Supreme Court decision on newsgathering rights. Legal experts and press-freedom advocates argue that the case concerns viewpoint discrimination.
