Horror Movies That Made Me Learn to Pray

I woke up this morning and caught the ending of the old Medusa film. It brought back memories of the sleepless nights it gave me as a child. Back then, I loved films like Rambo, Rocky, James Bond, Sinbad and The Sound of Music, but horror movies were a different matter entirely. A classmate told me Medusa was sweet, while some girls warned me not to watch it because it was too scary. Of course, I insisted that I was a strong guy. I kept missing parts of the film because of power cuts, outings or damaged video cassettes, but when I finally watched it, I could hardly sleep. The nightmares became so bad that I would jump out of bed and run to sleep near my uncles, aunts and grandmother. It always felt worse whenever there was no electricity. My grandmother eventually taught me how to pray against the fear, and that helped me get my peaceful sleep back. Other films that made me avoid horror movies include The Omen, Hammer House of Horror, Nightmare on Elm Street, Evil Dead, The Exorcist, Hauwa, Willie Willie Hot Cash, Ishawaru, old Nollywood ghost films and Wishmaster.
