Court Reveals New Surveillance Footage of Suspect Before Charlie Kirk Shooting

Court Reveals New Surveillance Footage of Suspect Before Charlie Kirk Shooting — 1 of 7
1 / 7

Prosecutors showed surveillance video of 23-year-old Tyler Robinson at Utah Valley University on September 10, hours before Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was fatally shot. The footage captures Robinson entering and exiting the campus in different clothes and walking with a noticeable limp that investigators say concealed a rifle. An FBI report presented in court linked Robinson’s DNA to samples found on a towel wrapped under the gun and on a screwdriver discovered on the rooftop where the shot was fired. Former state investigator David Hull identified Robinson in multiple clips by his gait and matching footwear. Defense attorneys sought to block graphic videos of the shooting and restrict media access, but the judge permitted most of the surveillance footage to be played. The preliminary hearing continues as prosecutors prepare to introduce more evidence, including a video interview and text messages in which Robinson allegedly confessed to an associate. The victim’s widow, parents, and several high-profile supporters attended the hearing. Robinson faces the death penalty if he is tried and convicted, and no plea deal has been announced.
