Why Do I Lose Interest When a Lady Asks for Time?

I have met several ladies who initially matched my type. Each time I asked one out, she asked for time to think or to get to know me better. While waiting for their response, I lost interest completely. This has happened with four different ladies, even when they later tried to reach out. I am beginning to wonder whether I genuinely want a relationship or just enjoy the initial chase. Has anyone experienced this, and how can I handle it better?
