Operation Fansan Yamma: Army Neutralises Bandits, Destroys Hideouts on Sokoto Border
Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have successfully taken out bandits and dismantled their hideouts in the highlands around Dangulbi and Kurawa villages in Tureta LGA, Sokoto State. A security source told the News Agency of Nigeria that on June 4, military personnel, alongside other security agencies and local vigilantes, engaged fleeing bandits. Several fighters, including kingpins, were killed, while many others escaped with gunshot wounds. Soldiers recovered weapons and motorcycles after the intense battle. The bandits later retreated into forests across neighbouring states. Authorities, including the Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Sokoto governor, have commended the Nigerian Army’s swift response and promised continued operations to protect lives and property.
