US Narcotics Bureau Pledges Stronger Support for NDLEA Drug War
The United States Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs has pledged to deepen its partnership with the NDLEA and praised the agency’s recent operations against drug trafficking and abuse. During a meeting in Abuja, INL Nigeria Country Director Derek Tolliver said the United States wanted to build on existing programmes and support the agency’s work. NDLEA Chairman Buba Marwa said past US support, including operational vehicles, forensic laboratory upgrades and equipment, had strengthened the agency’s investigations. He cited the recent dismantling of a methamphetamine laboratory in Ogun State, where forensic analysis identified chemicals linked to fentanyl production. Marwa requested further assistance in logistics and training as the NDLEA intensifies its anti-drug operations.
