NPFL Opening Day: Rangers Held, Niger Tornadoes Stun Enyimba
Defending champions Rangers began their NPFL title defence with a dramatic 1-1 draw against Katsina United. Luis Dadong gave Katsina United the lead before Chibueze Oputa struck deep in stoppage time to rescue a point for Rangers. Niger Tornadoes claimed one of the day’s biggest results, beating nine-time champions Enyimba 2-1 in Minna. Aliyu Goyi and Michael Olalusi scored for Tornadoes, while Wonah Williams netted Enyimba’s equaliser. Elsewhere, Rivers United defeated Plateau United 2-0, Barau FC beat Nasarawa United 3-1, and Kwara United came back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Kano Pillars. Bendel Insurance also beat Warri Wolves 2-1, while Doma United defeated Sporting Lagos 2-0.
