South African Envoy Explains Why Ayra Starr’s Visa Was Initially Rejected

South African Envoy Explains Why Ayra Starr’s Visa Was Initially Rejected

South Africa’s Consul-General to Nigeria, Prof. Bobby Moroe, says Ayra Starr’s earlier visa rejection was due to an incorrect yellow fever certificate, not her nationality or celebrity status. Moroe said the issue occurred in February 2024 and was later resolved after the singer’s team met the mission to clarify the required documents. Ayra Starr and her team were subsequently issued one-year visas to perform in South Africa. The explanation follows renewed online debate over Tyla’s planned Nigerian tour, with some Nigerians linking it to claims that Ayra Starr had been barred from entering South Africa. The envoy said visa decisions are based on meeting immigration requirements.
