Thierry Henry Denies Disrespecting Kane, Yamal and Kate Scott at Ballon d’Or

Thierry Henry has denied disrespecting Harry Kane, Lamine Yamal or his Ballon d’Or co-host Kate Scott during Monday’s ceremony. The former Arsenal and France striker said his question to Yamal after the teenager won another young player award was only a joke. He described the Barcelona star as a player he would gladly pay to watch. Henry also said Scott was in on the joke when he corrected her pronunciation of Brazilian legend Sócrates’ name. On his preference for Kylian Mbappé, Henry said he backed his fellow Frenchman out of national loyalty, while maintaining that Kane fully deserved the award. He praised the Bayern Munich and England striker’s work ethic and urged critics to stop reading disrespect into the exchanges.
