Navy Pledges Stronger Security Support to Boost Nigeria’s Oil Output

The Chief of Naval Staff has pledged stronger naval support for oil-producing companies to help increase Nigeria’s crude oil output and protect key petroleum assets. At a meeting with the Oil Producers Trade Section of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Navy said closer intelligence sharing and improved patrols were needed to tackle crude oil theft and threats to offshore facilities. The engagement focused on securing remote production sites, export terminals and routes used to move petroleum products. The Navy also said technology-driven surveillance would strengthen maritime patrols and response to security threats.
