Inside the Digital Sorority Empowering Over 23,000 African Women
Reta Riman launched “TAG The Girlies” to spark honest talks on fashion, identity and ambition. She skipped celebrity guests and relied on solo conversations that resonate with tens of thousands of women. In just three months, more than 23,000 members joined from Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Ghana and the wider diaspora. Her idea of “fashion science” ties style to self-confidence, while discussions cover body image, comparison culture and personal goals. The podcast has earned over 3 million views across platforms and reaches listeners in fourteen countries, with a core audience of women aged 18–34. Brands now seek collaborations to tap into this community. TAG The Girlies even hosted a campus event at the University of Lagos with a major beauty brand. That activation showed the digital sorority’s power offline and underlined its role as a space where women honour their ambition.
