A former presidential candidate, Chief Ambrose Owuru, has approached the Supreme Court, praying it to sack President Bola Tinubu from office.
Owuru, who was the presidential flag-bearer of the Hope Democratic Party, HDP, in the 2019 general election, in the legal action he filed directly at the apex court, among other things, maintained that president Tinubu is an active agent of the Central Intelligence Agency, CIA, of the United States of America, USA, a position he said made him unifit to occupy the presidential seat.

The plaintiff equally urged the apex court to disqualify Tinubu on the account that he had earlier forfeited the sum of $460,000 to the government of the USA, in a drug related case.

He specifically prayed the Supreme Court to invoke section 157 of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, and oust Tinubu from office for being under the control of foreign authorities.

Besides, Owuru, whose political party, HDP, had since been re-registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in his suit marked: SC/CV/667/2023, joined ex-President Muhammadu Buhari as a defendant in the matter.

According to the British-trained lawyer who was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1982, ex-President Buhari’s tenure was illegal.

Owuru alleged that though he was the valid winner of the 2019 presidential poll, Buhari highjacked his mandate and piloted affairs of the country for eight years.

He claimed that a suit he earlier lodged before the apex court to kick Buhari out of office, was technically jettisoned by the court due to a mix-up in the hearing dates.

Consequently, he argued that upon the disqualification of Tinubu for being unfit to hold the top job, the apex court should pronounce him as President and order his immediate inauguration to enable him reclaim his usurped mandate.

Aside from Tinubu and Buhari, other Defendants in the suit are the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, as well as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has fixed Monday, December 16, to hear the matter.

A hearing notice the court issued to the parties, a copy of which was sighted by Chronicle NG, read: “Please kindly take note that SC/CV/667/2023 Chief Ambrose Albert Owuru & Anor VS President Muhammadu Buhari & 3 Ors at the Supreme Court of Nigeria sitting at Abuja is slated for the hearing of Motions on Monday 16/12/2024.

“Thanks, Ukor Michael Akan, for: the Hon. Chief Registrar.”

It will be recalled that the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal had on May 25, 2023, imposed a N40million fine against the plaintiff for filling “frivolous” suit to stop Tinubu from being sworn in as President.

Owuru had also attempted to stop ex-President Buhari’s swearing-in.

He claimed that INEC assisted President Buhari to manipulate the outcome of the 2019 presidential election.

He contended that though the election was originally fixed for February 16, 2019, the INEC, about five hours to the commencement of the poll, announced a postponement, and later held the electoral exercise on February 23, 2019.

Owuru claimed that prior to the postponment, he had emerged as the winner of a referendum he said was conducted and monitored by both foreign and local organizations.

He told the court that he had at the end of the said referendum, garnered over 50 million votes, which he said was far and above the number of votes that other candidates that contested the presidential election, including Buhari, secured.

Owuru argued that the petition he lodged against Buhari after the election was not adjudicated upon by the Supreme Court as required by law.

He claimed that his petition was unjustly dismissed by the apex court following his absence that was occasioned by discrepancy in the hearing date that was served to him.

He, therefore, urged the high court to validate his case by removing Buhari and declaring him the President.

He further applied for an order to compel President Buhari to refund all monies he “illegally” collected as salaries, emoluments and security votes.

More so, the plaintiff prayed the court to halt the 2023 presidential election and order his immediate swearing in as President for a four-year tenure of office.

Following the dismissal of his case and the conduct of the presidential election on February 25, Owuru, approached the appellate court to stop the swearing-in of the then President-elect, Tinubu, a prayer the court refused.

I know about a business transaction he did with someone from his community that I will not mention his name, the transaction turned into what I will refer to as yahoo yahoo and the person took him to Court in Abuja to get back the money he paid for the business.

He pleaded the person for an out of Court settlement and started paying back the money but as I pen down this piece, he has not finished paying back the money. 

So he should endeavour to complete the payment before telling Anambra people about how prepared he is to solve their problem.

He or she whose house is on fire does not go after chasing rat. 

Anambra people cannot be deceived with blackmail because they are seeing what Governor Soludo is doing in our State with their own two eyes. 

As for the battle against insecurity, Governor Soludo administration and our security agents are doing their best. 

The progress they made in the battle against insecurity in the State deserves commendation.

From our sources in the Government House, Abuja, the Attorney General of the Federation, who went to the Supreme Court to argue and fight for the autonomy of the Local Government, has been furious at Aso Rock, stating that the new Governor of Edo State is embarrassing the policies and programs of the Tinubu-led administration. This action portrays him as the first APC Governor to openly suspend elected council members. 

The Chief of Staff to the President, who is very close to the Governor-elect, put a call through to the Governor-elect, stating that the Presidency is giving him the next seven days to instruct the House of Assembly of Edo State to lift the suspension of these council chairmen and allow them to resume their duties. He emphasized that neither the Governor nor the House of Assembly has the power to remove them from office as they were duly elected.

Uk-Based Nigerian Cleric Adegboyega Says His Ordeal Is Politically-Motivated

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has announced that the newly flagged-off Abia International Airport will position Abia State as a commercial and industrial hub of the South-East region, ABN TV reports.

The minister made this known on Tuesday during the flag-off ceremony of the airport project at Nsulu, Abia State.

The Abia International Airport, an upgrade of an existing airstrip, is a collaborative effort between the federal government and the Abia State government. While the federal government initiated the project, the state government is contributing to the development through runway upgrades.

Keyamo explained that the airport was part of President Bola Tinubu’s agenda to foster infrastructural development in the South-East. Recounting his discussions with the president, Keyamo said, “When I was briefing the president about the aviation sector, he asked me why Abia does not have at least an airstrip. He emphasized that no part of the country should be left behind, and in the South-East, it was only Abia State that lacked an operational landing facility.”

The minister further revealed that President Tinubu was deeply impressed with Governor Alex Otti’s leadership and commitment to the state’s development. According to him, Governor Otti’s proactive stance led to the decision to upgrade the airstrip into an international airport.

“When I broke the news to Dr. Alex Otti about the federal government’s plans for an airstrip, he said, ‘No, I will partner with you; I will put in counterpart funding and let us upgrade it to an international airport.’ This collaboration gave birth to this transformative project,” Keyamo stated.

Highlighting the strategic importance of the airport, Keyamo described Abia State as the “heart of industrialisation of the South-East” and emphasized its role as a future cargo and passenger airport. He pointed out that many of Nigeria’s renowned products originate from Abia State, adding that the new facility would facilitate the direct export of goods produced in the region.

“There is no reason we cannot manufacture and process goods here and export directly from Abia instead of taking them elsewhere for logistics purposes,” Keyamo said.

Addressing critics who question the viability of new airports, the minister underscored that airports are enablers of economic growth and social infrastructure. “What comes first— the chicken or the egg? It is the airports that generate economic activity. An airport in Abia State will unlock the state’s full economic potential as an industrial hub,” he explained.

Keyamo also stressed the critical role airports play in ensuring accessibility across the country, particularly during emergencies such as natural disasters.

“It was not good that Abia had been cut off from the aviation ecosystem of this country. An airport is not just an economic asset but a social necessity,” he concluded.

I've been to a lot of countries, and I must say that the cost of living in Switzerland is really high. The average price of a bottle of water here is $5. When I arrived last week, I spent 75 dollars on a pack of bottled water, which didn't even last for a week. I've been here for 9 days now, and I must say that my bank account is really feeling the heat. Everything here is damn expensive. Switzerland is for the rich abeg. Nothing anybody wan tell me. Today, I went shopping for groceries; I thought it was going to be nothing more than 50 dollars, but to my utmost surprise, I ended up spending over 200 dollars on little items. When I was in Norway, Australia and Netherlands, I thought that the cost of living was high (these countries are quite expensive to live in), but this is just on another level. I'm leaving here on Sunday abeg, before my account starts wailing. 
Guys, let me use this medium to drop a piece of advice. If anyone is telling you to leave Nigeria, show gratitude to that person, because he/she wants the best for you. I've been touring for 6 months now, and I must confess that Nigeria is a sh*thole. This is actually an understatement. If there was a worse word to use to attribute Nigeria, I'd have used it. Once I'm done with my travels, I'm permanently relocating to a European country. I'm just using this medium to gather my facts first, before making a final decision. 
I'm an American citizen by birth, but I've not lived there for 2 straight years; I've been on and off. America is kinda cool, but I've no interest in living there permanently.
UK and Canada are for introverted people in my own opinion. Right now, I'm thinking of maybe Sweden or Germany for permanent relocation. I studied n Germany from 2016-2022; before relocating back to Nigeria, to handle my Dad's businesses. Initially, it was tough, due to the language, but with time, I learnt it. James Mackintosh worked on his project to make a blinking bulb that can light a match for three months. It was not just making the bulb that would be easy but being able to use it to light a match involved more research than normal. That was the special thing about it. As he did his research work many people told him that if he successfully completed the project it would be one of the great feats of his college. 

Doing great things has always been our desire as humans. We want to do something that would make us stand out among our peers or be recognized in our fields. We want to be distinguished in society and be known for what we can do and what we can outdo. The desire to be great lies in most humans and it is God himself who put in us that desire. 

When we decide to go after great dreams we may face discouragement or detours and the task may seem too daunting for us. But if you have God on your side there is not a task that seems impossible that you wouldn't be able to do. God wants us to know that he desires us to do the impossible with his help. 

In today's reading we are told that some things may appear impossible with men but is possible with God. When we set out to do big things people may ask us " Who do you think you are to be able to do this "? But the truth is that God believes in you far more than you believe in yourself. God wants to use you to do mighty things for his kingdom and the world too. But your faith in God must be sure before you can do those mighty things. You can choose to trust God and he will use you greatly.

Good morning family. I don't know if this is the right section to post. Am new here please, pardon my errors. I am in a long distance relationship with my girlfriend(Late) for 3 years and some months. She is in Lagos while I reside in Benin City, she comes to visit me in Benin City and I do sometimes goes to meet her in Lagos. 
Last year, she has been disturbing me to come over to Lagos to seek for greener pastures and for us to settle down but money was not there for me because of that, i was saving little by little. We both have been on this issues and I promised her I was coming to be with her in Lagos early next year so that we can settle down and get married.
She celebrated her birthday on the 21st October, and on the 25th of same month, she died via accident when coming back from work. NB, the accident happened along Kaduna/Abuja road that claimed 13 passengers and she was part of those that died......
Recently, we just laid her to rest and I keep thinking about her all the time. There is nothing I haven't done to forget but it's not working for me. I sincerely and genuinely love her. She would have visited me after this work of hers but she is no more. PLEASE FAMILY HELP ME OUT BECAUSE AM FEELING SUICIDAL.

.... Prince Idikwu has been held incommunicado for four days without contact with his family.

The Initiative for Civil Values and Good Governance has raised the alarm and petitioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the Gestapo-style abduction of its Director General, Prince Anthony Idikwu, by a Joint Task Force (JTF) of the Police and DSS from his home in the Garki area of Abuja.

In a statement issued by the organisation on Monday, the Head of Administration, Mr Emmanuel Ogbogu, said, “Members of the task force arrived at Mr Tony’s home around 9:30 pm on Friday night and, without identifying themselves, broke down the door to his apartment and abducted him”. 

“Efforts by neighbours and family members to ask them to identify themselves and their station led to the assault of these neighbours and family members, who insisted until the men claimed they were from Police/DSS joint task force”, the statement continued.

Ogbogu said since the arrest on Friday night, efforts by the family to identify his whereabouts have remained fruitless even after visiting all Police and DSS formations in Abuja.

"The Organisation has, therefore, petitioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to come to the aid of his sorrowing family and direct the security agencies to either release Mr Idikwu or charge him to Court.

“It is now four days since they took him away violently from his family without any information as to his whereabouts. 

"Prince Idikwu did not go with his routine drugs, and nobody knows if he is still alive. The President should intervene urgently and save Prince Tony before it is too late," they pleaded.

UK Pledges £50 Million Aid to Syria Amid Diplomatic Contact with Rebel Group

The United Kingdom has pledged £50 million in international aid to support Syrians during their time of need. This announcement was made by David Lammy, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs.

According to Sky News, the UK government has also acknowledged engaging in "diplomatic contact" with the rebel group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), which ousted Bashar al-Assad's regime in parts of Syria.

When asked about the UK’s interactions with HTS, Mr. Lammy confirmed the engagement, stating:

“HTS remains a proscribed organisation, but we can have diplomatic contact, and so we do, as you would expect.”

He emphasised that the UK’s primary goal is to support a transition to a more inclusive government in Syria while ensuring peace and stability.

> "We want to see a representative government, an inclusive government running the country," Mr. Lammy explained.

The UK is also keen on securing chemical weapons stockpiles to prevent their use and minimising violence in the region.

“To achieve these objectives, we are utilising all available diplomatic and intelligence-led channels to engage with HTS where necessary,” he added.

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, previously affiliated with al-Qaeda as the Nusra Front, is classified as a terrorist group by the UK, US, Russia, and Turkey. Its founder, Ahmad al-Sharaa, known as Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, severed ties with al-Qaeda in 2016 to project a more moderate stance.

In a related development, the US government also acknowledged diplomatic contact with HTS, a significant shift in its stance. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, in a recent statement, confirmed talks with the group, marking the first such public admission by the Biden administration.

Despite its classification as a "foreign terrorist organisation" since 2018, the US justified the interaction as a measure to address ongoing instability in Syria.

Abia-North Senator Orji Uzor Kalu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday formally received his Award Plaque on Constituency Development which he won for the Third time.

The Senate Committee Chairman on Privatisation emerged overall best among 108 of his colleagues to clinch the coveted prize at this year’s edition of the Senate Press Corps Award ceremony held on Monday at the NICON Luxury Hotel, Abuja.

Kalu who was unavoidably absent due to pressing legislative duties was presented with the Award by the Leadership of the Senate Press Corps led by its Chairman Mr. James Itodo and the newly elected Chairman Mr. Taiye Odewale.

The brief ceremony took place at the National Assembly office of the Lawmaker during which a brief citation of Kalu and his achievements were read.

The citation detailed Kalu’s trajectory in Business and Politics, especially the list of critical infrastructure projects and human empowerment he executed in his Senatorial District since his election in 2019.

Answering questions from the journalists after receiving the plaque, the former Abia State governor thanked the Press Corps for considering him worthy to win the Award again.

He said his goal remains in intensifying his delivery of additional democratic dividends to his constituents as well as sponsoring people oriented Bills and Motions.

On the 2025 Budget Kalu expressed gratitude to the President for budgetary allocation to Defence he however emphasised the need to scale up Manufacturing and Agriculture.

He said;

"I thank the President for considering defence. If we don't keep peace I don't think we can do anything. It means we will do a lot to go back to Agriculture".

"I would like to see that this Budget will improve the Banks of Industry and Agriculture to add stimulus back to the economy. If we don't stimulate the economy we can't bring down the Dollar to Naira".

"Production and export must be key and we have to pay attention to manufacturers , we should see we can redirect some of this Budget to Favour Manufacturers and Support Development Banks so that we can go back to Favour Manufacturers and support Development Banks.

Tinubu said that what happened in Ghana during last weekend's elections is worthy of emulation by other countries in the region.

President Bola Tinubu has urged leaders of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to emulate Ghana’s democratic practice following a successful presidential and parliamentary elections in the country.

Former President John Mahama was reelected to lead Ghana once again last Saturday, defeating the incumbent Vice President, Mahamud Bawumia, who called to congratulate the winner even before the official results were declared.

In his opening speech at the 66th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government in Abuja on Sunday, Tinubu who is the Chairman said that what happened in Ghana is worthy of emulation by other countries in the region.

He hailed the incumbent President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, who is attending the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government for the last time as President, for the successful election.

“Just a week ago on the 7th of December 2024, presidential election and parliamentary elections took place in Ghana which is the second largest democracy in our region. One of the leading candidates who happens to be the incumbent Vice President, His Excellency Mahamud Bawumia, together with the leading party, New Patriotic Party (NPP) conceded defeat and accepted the outcome of the election by congratulating the President-elect, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama of National Democratic Congress (NDC) for his victory even before the announcement of the official results.

“This gesture as it happened in Nigeria in 2015 demonstrated political maturity and respect for the wish of the people of Ghana. Today, we have the man I will refer to as Mr Democrat, I congratulate the President Nana Akufo -ddo and the people of Ghana for the successful elections and urge all of us in the region to learn from this good democratic practice and prioritise our countries’ national unity to ensure political stability of the region that this manner of peaceful transition recalls the culture of democracies not only in West Africa but also in the entire African continent,” Tinubu said.

The Nigerian leader also commended Senegal for a successful conduct of parliamentary elections recently.

Tinubu called for cooperation among the ECOWAS member states in protecting their citizens and providing an enabling environment for the citizens to thrive.
