Nigerian Troops Repel ISWAP Assault in Ngala, Seize RPG Explosives
Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 3 Battalion under the 24 Task Force Brigade successfully thwarted a coordinated ISWAP and JAS attack on their Ngala position at around 2:44 a.m. on June 12. Reinforced by mortar, artillery support and auxiliary forces, they drove the insurgents back. A follow-up sweep before dawn recovered three unexploded RPG-7 rounds and two torchlights abandoned by fleeing fighters. One soldier was wounded by grenade fragments and treated at the battalion’s aid post. Operations continue to secure the area and prevent insurgent regrouping as the military pledges sustained offensives across the North-East.
