Midnight Fire Destroys Nearly 300 Shops at Oranyan Market in Ibadan

An early-morning fire has destroyed nearly 300 shops at Oranyan Market in Ibadan North-East Local Government Area of Oyo State. The blaze reportedly started around midnight on August 24 and spread through sections of the market. Gold dealers, furniture sellers and second-hand clothing traders were among those affected. An eyewitness said the fire has been contained, but the cause has not yet been confirmed. The scale of losses is still being assessed.
