MOSIEND Vows to Battle Resource Drain, Blasts Federal Neglect of Niger Delta
The Movement for the Survival of the Izon Ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta (MOSIEND) has accused the federal government of systematically draining Ijaw oil wealth while leaving host communities in poverty. Chairman Comrade Tari Patrick Zidougha described Niger Delta crude as the “lifewire” of Nigeria, yet said the region still reels from environmental damage and lacks basic infrastructure. Zidougha highlighted a glaring double standard in mineral management. He contrasted federal control of Delta oil with how Zamfara state oversees its gold resources. He warned that unless resource control is granted, MOSIEND will intensify its fight against what it calls “intentional impoverishment.” Read the full interview for more insights into MOSIEND’s demands and the ongoing struggle for equity in Nigeria’s resource governance.
