Edo Deputy Governor Urges All Ages to Join Fight Against Drug Abuse
Edo Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa has called for an inclusive approach to tackling drug abuse, saying substance misuse affects young people, middle-class residents and prominent members of society. Speaking at the Okpebholo/Marwa Mini Marathon Against Drug Abuse for secondary school students in Benin, Idahosa said prevention efforts must involve families, schools, communities, religious and traditional leaders, as well as government agencies. The NDLEA said the marathon was designed to promote a drug-free lifestyle through sports and youth engagement. More than 100 students from four public schools took part, with Edokpolor Grammar School students taking the top three places in the male category. The winners received one-year academic scholarships and were named War Against Drug Abuse student ambassadors for Edo State.
