Nigerian-Born Dietitian Dismissed by NHS Over Exaggerated Expertise
Ifeyinwa Chizube Ndulue-Nonso began her role as a Band 6 dietitian at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust in February 2024. Within days, supervisors flagged fundamental errors in her basic anatomy knowledge and clinical skills. The tribunal found she persistently exaggerated or lied about 20 of 28 claimed competencies. Colleagues say she incorrectly stated that urine is stored in the gallbladder, thought radiotherapy treats heart failure, and could not calculate BMI or identify feeding tubes. Suspended in March, she admitted to “exaggerating” her qualifications and blamed cultural differences. A professional panel concluded her misrepresentation was deliberate and posed patient risk. She was struck off the UK dietitian register in March 2026. Reports note she graduated from a Nigerian university and had faced concerns about her competence before moving to the UK. Supervisors now advise overseas practitioners to start at entry levels to adapt to NHS standards.
