Police Arrest Man With 115 Rounds of Ammunition in Benue
Police in Benue State have arrested a 20-year-old man, Joro Jarkata, after allegedly finding 115 rounds of live 7.62mm ammunition in his possession during a stop-and-search operation in Guma LGA. The Benue State Police Command said officers intercepted a motorcycle with two occupants on July 28. One occupant reportedly fled into a nearby bush on seeing the officers, while Jarkata, said to be from Awe LGA in Nasarawa State, was arrested. Police said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Makurdi. Investigators are working to trace the ammunition's source and destination, identify others involved and arrest the fleeing suspect.
