I Lost My Job After Giving ₦2,000 to a Begging Mother and Child
On Friday, 10 July 2026, a woman who looked hungry and distressed approached my boss outside the electronics shop where I worked. She was with a small child and begged for money, but my boss and his friends ignored her. I felt sorry for her, so I called her back and gave her ₦2,000 from my own money. I had never taken a kobo from my employer, but I noticed the mood around my boss changed after that. When I returned to work the following Monday, I was told that my boss had asked me to stop coming. It has now been three months without a job, and things have been difficult. Still, despite the pain, I do not regret helping that woman and her child.
