WHO Warns Trump’s Proposed Vaccine Schedule Changes Could Put Children at Risk
The World Health Organization has raised concerns about a new executive order by U.S. President Donald Trump that seeks to revise the country’s childhood vaccination schedule. The order proposes reducing the number of routine childhood immunisations from 18 to 11. It also recommends splitting the combined measles, mumps and rubella vaccine into separate shots given at different appointments. WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus said the proposed changes are not supported by decades of scientific evidence on vaccination timing, dosage and the safe use of combined vaccines. He stressed that vaccines, including the MMR vaccine, are safe and do not cause autism. According to WHO, delaying vaccines or separating doses without medical need could leave children unprotected from preventable diseases. The agency said vaccination policies should be guided by independent, transparent scientific review rather than political influence.
