Fuel at N1,300/Litre: Uzodimma Says Tinubu Shielded Nigeria From Global Oil Shock
Governor Hope Uzodimma says President Bola Tinubu shielded Nigeria from the global fuel crisis, even as pump prices near N1,300 per litre. He linked global price spikes to tensions around the Strait of Hormuz and said reforms at home prevented scarcity and worse hikes. Uzodimma claimed the naira stayed around N1,240 despite pressure, while other African currencies struggled. He credited subsidy removal for stabilising the exchange rate and enabling the Dangote Refinery to buy crude in naira. He spoke in Owerri when the City Boy Movement, led by Seyi Tinubu and Youth Minister Ayodele Olawande, visited. He praised their outreach to the vulnerable, noted improved infrastructure and political calm in the South-East, and urged them to spread the Renewed Hope message. NAN reports the movement will empower 7,000 youths in the South-East during the visit.
