Court Postpones Abuja Land Dispute Hearing Involving Sen. Iyabo Obasanjo
The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned to July 9 the suit by ABB Electrical Systems and Ambassador Yohana Margif against Sen. Iyabo Obasanjo and co-defendants over Plot 4254 in Asokoro. The case was reassigned from Justice Umar back to Justice Ekwo. Previous hearings on March 30 and June 10 were stalled by the absence of lawyers. The plaintiffs are seeking an interim injunction to prevent any trespass or alteration of the 1.67-hectare property, relying on a statutory Right of Occupancy granted in May 2006. Justice Ekwo had earlier refused an ex-parte motion, directing the plaintiffs to formally notify the defendants before granting any relief. The next mention will determine if the case can proceed to hearing.
