Flamingos Crowned WAFU U-17 Champions After 4-0 Win Over Togo
Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team, the Flamingos, have won the 2026 WAFU U-17 Girls’ Cup after beating Togo 4-0 in the final in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire. Captain Chidi Harmony scored two penalties in the 15th and 35th minutes to give Nigeria a comfortable lead before half-time. Olubebube Umejiaku added a third goal in the 67th minute, while Oluwakemi Adegbuyi completed the win in the 90th minute. The Flamingos finished the tournament unbeaten, winning all five matches, including key victories over Ghana and hosts Côte d’Ivoire. They will now prepare for the U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, where they face North Korea, Puerto Rico and Poland in Group B.
