Okonkwo Joins Nwabali and Okoye in Super Eagles Goalkeeping Race
Arthur Okonkwo has been called up for Nigeria's 2027 AFCON qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau, increasing competition for the Super Eagles' number-one spot. The Charlton Athletic goalkeeper has kept clean sheets in each of his first two senior appearances for Nigeria, against Zimbabwe and Jamaica at the Unity Cup. Okonkwo will compete with Stanley Nwabali and Maduka Okoye as Eric Chelle prepares for the Group L opener against Madagascar in Uyo on September 25. Nigeria then travel to face Guinea-Bissau four days later. With Tanzania already assured of qualification as co-hosts, only one other team from the group will qualify, making every match crucial for the Super Eagles.
