Court Orders APC to Submit Okorocha as Imo West Senate Candidate, Bars Uzodimma
A Federal High Court in Abuja has reportedly ordered Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma to stop presenting himself as the APC candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District election scheduled for January 16, 2027. Justice Obiora Egwuatu reportedly held that former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha won the APC primary held on May 18, 2026. The court directed the party to submit Okorocha’s name to INEC as its candidate. The ruling followed Okorocha’s challenge to INEC’s recognition of Uzodimma. INEC had maintained that the result submitted through the party’s official process named Uzodimma as the winner. Further reactions or appeals from the APC, Uzodimma and INEC are awaited.
