1 / 2

At the monthly conference at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Centre in Abuja, the Inspector-General of Police urged senior officers to stay proactive, intelligence-driven and adaptive in confronting kidnapping, armed robbery, terrorism, banditry and cyber-enabled crimes. He highlighted recent successes: the arrest of suspected terrorists, kidnapping and armed robbery suspects, murder and cult-related offenders; the rescue of dozens of kidnapped victims; and the recovery of firearms, ammunition and stolen vehicles across multiple operations. The IGP directed commissioners to deepen community policing, strengthen intelligence gathering and engage traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups and market associations. He stressed that professionalism, accountability, personnel welfare and effective media engagement are essential to building public trust and preventing crime.
