Nigeria-Ghana Beach Soccer Qualifier Stays 3-3 After Referees Admit First-Leg Error
The officials who handled Nigeria’s 2026 CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Ghana have admitted that extra time and a penalty shootout should not have been played. The first leg in Kaduna ended 3-3 in regulation time. Because it was the opening match of a two-legged tie, the game should have ended there. The Nigeria Football Federation sought clarification after the officials ordered extra time and penalties. Nigeria’s Isa Hamza Manga scored a hat-trick, while Mawuli Sosu scored twice and Wise Nyamadi added Ghana’s other goal. The tie remains level ahead of the return leg in Keta, Ghana.
