Wike Calls FCT NLC and NUT Strike Political, Directs No-Work, No-Pay
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has described the ongoing strike by the FCT chapters of the Nigeria Labour Congress and Nigeria Union of Teachers as political and without justification. After meeting Abuja’s six area council chairmen, Wike directed them to enforce a no-work, no-pay policy for workers who join the action. He said agreed issues involving teachers’ promotions and other operational concerns were already being addressed. The strike followed an NLC directive for FCT Administration and private-sector workers to stop work indefinitely over disputes involving teacher redeployments, the 2025 promotion examination and promotion requirements. Wike also alleged that the local NLC leadership was using the strike for political purposes.
