Mary Njoku Challenges NAFDAC DG Over Food Safety Enforcement

Actress Mary Remmy Njoku has criticised NAFDAC Director-General Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye over comments that Nigerians are largely ignorant about food consumption and pesticide instructions. Adeyeye said in a recent interview that poor understanding of labels and regulatory responsibilities contributes to food-safety challenges in Nigeria. Njoku argued that consumers should not bear the burden of weak inspections, inadequate testing and poor enforcement. She urged NAFDAC to focus on protecting the public through effective regulation of processed and semi-processed foods.
