Joan Laporta Secures Another Term as Barcelona President in Convincing Win
Joan Laporta has been re-elected as FC Barcelona president for the next five years after defeating rival Victor Font in Sunday’s vote. He claimed 32,934 of the 48,480 valid votes cast by club members, while Font picked up 14,385 votes. There were 984 blank ballots and 177 voided votes. After the results were confirmed amid chants of 'president' at Spotify Camp Nou, Laporta thanked the socios for their participation. “This passion makes the club special,” he said. Turnout stood at 42.34% of the 114,504 eligible members. Current and former presidents, coaches and players—including Hansi Flick, Raphinha, Pedri and Dani Olmo—voted at the stadium on a day Barcelona also beat Sevilla 5-2. Laporta promised an “unstoppable” era ahead and called the coming years “the best of our lives.”
