Lagos Rent Crisis: Can New Investment Finally Ease the Pressure?
I believe Igbo entrepreneurs will adapt and find new opportunities, as they have done in trade across Nigeria and Asia for decades. Greater investment could also create room for more local manufacturing and industry. What worries me most is housing in Lagos. Many residents earn less than ₦100,000 monthly, yet small self-contained apartments and flats now cost hundreds of thousands or even millions of naira yearly. I hope serious investment in housing and real estate increases supply, curbs exploitative practices and gives ordinary residents a fairer chance of finding affordable homes.
