US Woman Convicted After Undercover Officer Exposed Alleged Murder-for-Hire Plot
Dalia Dippolito was convicted in 2017 for soliciting the murder of her husband, Michael Dippolito, in Boynton Beach, Florida. Prosecutors said she wanted access to his money and property and hoped to pursue another relationship. Police launched an undercover operation after receiving information about the alleged plot. An officer posed as a hitman, recorded conversations with Dippolito and later joined officers in staging a fake crime scene at the couple’s home. Her 2011 conviction was overturned over a jury-selection error, while a 2016 retrial ended in a mistrial. She was convicted again in 2017 and sentenced to 16 years in prison, a ruling later upheld on appeal.
