Ekiti High Court Sentences Two DSS-Convicted Kidnappers to Death

Ekiti High Court Sentences Two DSS-Convicted Kidnappers to Death — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Two men found guilty of abducting a female NYSC staff member in Ekiti State have been sentenced to death by hanging. The Ekiti State High Court I in Ado-Ekiti convicted Ibrahim Abubakar and Abdullahi Abubakar over the April 2022 kidnapping of Omoboade Adesina. A third accused, Usman Abubakar, was discharged after the court ruled there was insufficient evidence linking him to the crime. The Chief Judge, Justice Lekan Ogunmoye, praised the DSS prosecutors for proving the case beyond reasonable doubt, highlighting the identification parade and call data record analysis. This verdict follows a series of successful prosecutions by the Service, including recent terrorism and arms proliferation cases in Sokoto and a kidnap conviction in Kogi State. The DSS says its intelligence-driven approach remains key to tackling violent crimes in Nigeria. Source: TVC
