Documents Expose Accountant-General’s Office for Posting Staff to Phantom PFIPC Amid FG Denial

Official papers have surfaced showing the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation approved redeployments of treasury officers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). A circular dated August 28, 2025, directed affected officers to submit assumption-of-duty certificates by September 11 or face sanctions under Public Service Rules. Permanent secretaries and heads of key federal institutions received the notice. The postings include a principal auditor and two senior accounts officers moved to PFIPC’s audit and accounts units. Yet the presidency insists the agency does not exist and its supposed director-general, Adeniyi Adeyemi, is an impostor. Mr Adeyemi has challenged that denial, pointing to PFIPC’s appearance in the 2026 budget and accusing the president’s chief of staff of demanding N600 million in bribes. The revelations have sparked outrage over transparency in the Tinubu administration.

How might shifting treasury officers from the Foreign Affairs Ministry to PFIPC affect public accountability and resource management?

I agree, moving those officers could stir up new checks and balances in how funds are tracked.

The circular from August 28, 2025, seems detailed, yet the FG denies any phantom redeployments. Something's not adding up here.

Are we sure these redeployments are purely phantom postings? Perhaps there's more to this circular than meets the eye.

We should petition for an independent audit of PFIPC staff movements and demand transparency on ministry staff records promptly.
