NNPP Condemns Alleged Obi Blockade in Benue, Says Governors Must Be Accountable
The New Nigeria Peoples Party has condemned the alleged prevention of Peter Obi from visiting displaced persons in Benue State. It said every Nigerian, including presidential candidates, has the constitutional right to move freely across the country. NNPP National Secretary Oginni Olaposi said the incident should not automatically be blamed on President Bola Tinubu or the APC. He argued that governors, party members and individuals should be held responsible for actions taken within their states. The party urged the Benue State Government to investigate the incident, hold those involved accountable and apologise to Nigerians. It also called on political leaders and supporters to obey the law and avoid conduct that could trigger violence ahead of the 2027 elections.
