Nine Killed as Private Jet Crashes in Florida Neighbourhood

A Learjet 60 carrying nine people crashed in Palm Beach County, Florida, on Sunday while travelling from Texas to the Bahamas. All nine people on board were killed, while no injuries were immediately reported on the ground. Motorists captured footage of the aircraft plunging from the sky before it crashed near homes and a busy road, causing a large fire. Officials said the jet narrowly missed nearby properties. The pilots had reported turbulence, ice buildup and heavy rain before declaring an emergency. Flight data indicated that the aircraft entered a rapid descent shortly before the crash. Federal aviation investigators are examining the cause.
