Stakeholders Propose 774-LGA Security Partnership to Tackle Insecurity

Stakeholders at a national security engagement in Abuja have called for stronger grassroots action against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes. The meeting, convened by Project 774 Network and attended by government representatives, security agencies, traditional and religious leaders, civil society and community groups, focused on supporting troops, national unity and peacebuilding. Participants adopted the Abuja 774 Local Government Security Partnership Initiative. They urged all local governments to support lawful security operations with equipment, emergency logistics, community policing committees and improved intelligence sharing. The stakeholders also recommended that each local government transparently recruit, train and supervise at least 100 vetted community vigilante personnel under recognised security agencies. They asked state governments to monitor local security preparedness, while the Federal Government strengthens intelligence-led operations, inter-agency coordination, technology and funding for security institutions.
