Co-wife Allegedly Sets New Wife, Husband and Children on Fire in Kano

A 28-year-old new bride and her two children were severely burned after her co-wife allegedly doused them with petrol and set them ablaze late on May 11 in the Hotoro area of Kano State. The victims include the woman, her seven-year-old daughter and three-year-old son. Their husband and father, a tricycle rider, also suffered burns while rescuing them and is receiving treatment alongside the others at Kano hospitals. Police have arrested the suspect at the Mariri Division. Family members say the co-wife had threatened the new wife over the children, who are from her previous marriage, before the attack.
